The NASA Executive Board has had a busy and productive year. Together we have developed a strategic plan to move our union forward. If elected I will work hard to further implement and enhance the main objectives of the strategic plan (Communications, Education, and Member Engagement and Consultation) for the benefit of all our members. For more information on the NASA Strategic Plan login to the members section of the NASA website nasa.ualberta.ca.
The role of the President is to lead, but also to serve. I am always happy to hear from individual members. We are fortunate that technology has been making it easier to do online surveys of our members to get feedback on important issues. In less than a year we will be entering bargaining for a new collective agreement and member surveys will enable us to measure the priorities and concerns of our members.
Member engagement and community building is another important area for NASA to continue to grow. Hundreds of members made it out to Fort Edmonton Park for our NASA day and proudly wore their NASA buttons around the park. I support further events like this, as well as our popular annual NASA Breakfast in July, and will work with the Membership Chair to make them happen.
